Braving Heat and Cold and Enjoying Beer and Scenery

in Laos


In December 2012 Su and I made a backpacking trip through Laos from almost the extreme South to almost the extreme North of the country, from the coffee growing Bolaven plateau to the rugged (and cold) mountaineous area near the Chinese border.

Once we got north of Luang Prabang the weather turned wet and cold, but when when we arrived at the Thai border at Huay Xai/Chiang Khong the sun came out again
